The very first post: About me

Hello there!

I am Hilal. I am here because I would like to share my learning experiences in a Coursera course called Financial Literacy. I will also share my experiences through the course titled Instructional Technologies. As I am the lecturer and facilitator of the Instructional Technologies course, sharing my weekly thoughts, emotions, and activities is going to help me to understand and evaluate my teaching practices better. On the other hand, this blog is going to be a part of my e-portfolio that helps me to show my self-regulation skills.

My reflections on the first week

That is my first reflection post, and it will be about my first week as the lecturer for the Instructional Technologies course. To begin, this is not the first time I have facilitated this course, but it is the first time I intend to 'officially' reflect on my teaching practice. I did what I always do to get ready for the first class. I read the first-week presentation I used last semester. As a result, I found some irrelevant and extra knowledge concerning the Industrial Revolution. Starting with the history of technology is usually a good idea, but digging too deep is not as appealing. As a result, I removed five pages from my presentation and created a collaborative exercise that allows my students to work together on 10-minute research activity. Unfortunately, we were unable to complete the exercise due to a lack of internet access in the lab.
